The Construction of the Adjustability Enhancement Counseling Program for Biracial/Bi-ethnic Elementary School Students in Lower Grades

This study was to systematically construct a counseling program for biracial/bi-ethnic elementary school students to enhance the adjustability to school , and to confirm its validity. The contents of this study was surveying of need on necessary contents for adjustment to school of biracial children, reviewing the literature and analysing result of survey, constructing the counseling program for enhance of adjustment to school, and confirming its validity. To achive this purpose, the process of this study is exploring various materials and activity by understanding the characteristics of biracial/bi-ethnic children and classifying the difficulty in adjustment to school by school adjustment area. By reviewing the result of survey and the literature, the factors of the program were extracted, the object of each session were created, the program was composed with activities to achieve the object. After the program was corrected through professionals' consultation, the final counseling program was show. The results of this study were as follows: For enhancing the school adjustability, biracial/bi-ethnic elementary school students must understand themselves, shape identity desirably and practice interpersonal relationship skills to improve relation with classmate and teacher. And although the effect of this program was not verified, the constructed program was shown to be applicable to schools and to be possible to be generalized as a result of its review by a professional. This study are meaningful in that the program can response rapidly changing social need and in the way that counseling teacher can help the biracial/bi-ethnic elementary school students in lower grade directly.

본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정 초등학교 저학년 학생의 학교적응력을 향상시킬 수 있는 프로그램을 구안하고 그 타당성을 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 선행연구 및 문헌을 고찰하여 다문화가정 초등학생이 학교적응 과정에서 겪는 어려움을 분석하고, 다문화가정 초등학교 1, 2학년 학생과 담임교사를 대상으로 학교적응실태를 파악하기 위한 요구조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 다문화가정 초등학교 저학년 학생들은 학교적응에 있어 대인관계 및 학교수업 적응을 위해 보다 많은 도움을 필요로 하고 있었으며, 학교규칙에는 잘 적응하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 따라 대인관계 및 학교수업 적응력을 향상시킬 수 있는 활동을 중심으로 잠정적인 프로그램을 제시하고, 이론 및 현장전문가의 자문을 바탕으로 수정․보완한 다음, 그 타당성을 확인하여 최종 프로그램을 구안하였다. 본 연구는 다문화사회로 급변하고 있는 우리 사회의 요구에 시의적절할 뿐 아니라, 다문화가정 초등학생들이 학교생활에 적응하는데 직접적인 도움을 제공할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.
