The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of perceived athletic competence of social skill and self-concept in children. For the study, a total of 372 elementary students(grades 5,6 , M: 249, W: 123) was selected as the study subjects. Questionnaire are Self-Concept that Ko, Jinyoung(2004) have developed and Children's Social Competence Scale developed by Park, Keumok(1998). Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis was performed. Based on the results of the study conclude follows. First, the child's perceived athletic competence, the higher the perceived physical appearance self, ego friendships, parents baby high officials. Second, the child's perceived athletic competence, the higher the perceived social, interpersonal adaptability, social participation, initiative, popularity is high. Third, the child's self-concept and social skills are positively affects the popular.

이 연구는 아동의 인지된 운동능력에 따라 자아개념과 사회적 능력에 어떤 차이가 있는지, 또한 자아개념이 사회적 능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는 것이 목적이다. 연구를 위해 총 372명의 초등학교 고학년생(5,6학년생, 남:249, 여:123)을 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 측정도구로는 고진영(2004)이 개발한 초등학생용 자아개념 척도와 노명희(1995), 도현심(1994), 이경희(1993) 등이 사용한 아동용 사회적 능력 척도를 참고하여 개발한 박금옥(1998)의 사회적 능력 척도를 사용하였다. 자료분석을 위해 SPSS 18.0을 이용하였으며 기술통계, 신뢰도분석, t-검증, 상관분석, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과를 토대로 결론을 내리자면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 인지된 운동능력이 높을수록 신체외모자아, 친구관계자아, 부모관계자아가 높다. 둘째, 아동의 인지된 운동능력이 높을수록 사교성, 대인적응성, 사회참여도, 주도성, 인기도가 높다. 셋째, 아동의 자아개념은 사회적 능력에 정(+)적인 영향을 미친다. 이러한 결과에 대하여 비슷한 주제의 선행연구의 결과와 비교, 논의하였다.
