The purpose of this study is to analyse the impact of inward Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) on regional economic growth in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do. The Cobb-Douglas production function was used to identify the impact of inward foreign direct investment on regional economic growth in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do area. According to the panel regression model analysis, the results showed a significant positive effect of inward foreign direct investment inflows and gross fixed capital formation on regional economic growth,In addition, the vector error correction model results showed a positive effect of inward direct investment, labor and exports on regional economic growth and foreign direct investment, employment and exports.

본 연구에서는 동남경제권인 부산ㆍ울산ㆍ경남지역에서 외국인직접투자 유입이 경제 성장에 어떤 영향을 미 치고 있는가를 파악하기 위해 실증분석을 하였다. 먼저 총생산액에서 차지하는 외국인직접투자 유입실적 비 중으로 외국인직접투자의 성과를 분석하는 외국인직접투자 유입성과지수를 분석한 결과 부산ㆍ울산ㆍ경남 지역은 타 지역에 비해 낮은 수치로 나타났으며, 이는 경제력 규모에 비해 외국인직접투자의 규모가 낮았다. 부산ㆍ울산ㆍ경남지역의 외국인직접투자가 경제성장에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 콥-더글라스 생산함 수에 기초하여 패널 모형을 분석한 결과 외국인직접투자 유입은 경제성장과 총고정자본형성에 상당히 긍정적 인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 동태적 모형의 특징을 갖는 벡터오차수정모형 분석의 추정 결과에서도 외 국인직접투자는 경제성장과 고용 창출 및 수출에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.
