By excluding the notion of the body, a human’s “rational” existence consists of a world composed of oneself and other people. However, the true significance of living in this world of direct experience and co-existence is lost. The typical area which stands our negative prejudices back on body and it is far from the new awareness of body which tells spirit of time is tattoo. This study employs hermeneutic phenomenology to describe the experiences and essential meaning of life and art for four tattoo-artists who spent 14 months working on the body and by the body. The study participants had a distinct awareness of the body-subject and experienced tattoo art as a way of authentically living their lives. Additionally, through the process of tattooing, the visual expression of meaning was jointly created by an open conversation between the study participants and those who were being tattooed.Moreover they said that tattoo become a Art when it will be expessed through the process of the meaning-making While this toatooists who participated in this research were not formally educated in tattooing, they have adapted education of Nietzsche to the younger generation by lived-expierience as tattoo-artists. The participants were not buried traditional beliefs they had already lived their lives in a way that was consistent with their own value generation of the body, which is a new vision of the postmodern body. By setting the basics, the participants determined that, in their lives, the natural meaning of the world and their relationship with others is revealed body-subject as the body-oneself.

몸이 배재된 “이성적” 존재로서 인간은 자신이 구성하는 세계와 타자만이 있을 뿐 직접 경험의 세계와 타자의 존재에 대한 진정한 의미는 실종되어 있다. 이처럼 몸에 대한 새로운 인식을 말하는 후기 현대 의 시대정신에 여전히 멀어져있는 몸에 대한 타자들의 부정적 선입견을 등에 진 대표적인 영역이 타투 일 것이다. 이에 이 연구는 4명의 타투-아티스트를 연구 참여자로 하여 해석학적 현상학의 연구 방법을 13개월에 걸쳐 수행하여, 몸을 통해 몸으로 작업하는 타투-아티스트들의 삶과 예술의 본질적 의미를 드 러내는데 목적을 두었다. 연구 참여자들은 몸-주체라는 인식을 뚜렷하게 가지고 있었고 가장 자기다운 삶을 살아가기 위한 길로써 타투 예술을 선택하고 있었다. 그리고 타투 작업 과정에서 연구 참여자들과 타투를 받는 이 간의 열린 대화를 통해 공동으로 의미를 만들고 그 의미를 시각적 상징으로 표현할 것 을 주장하였다. 그리고 의미 만들기 과정을 거쳐 타투를 표현하게 될 때 비로소 예술이 된다고 말하였 다. 한편 연구 참여자들은 자신은 타투에 대한 체계적인 교육을 받을 수 없었지만 타투아티스트로서 살 아내면서 스스로 체득한 삶을 몸으로 보여주는 니체 방식의 교육을 후진들에게 실행하고 있었다. 또 그 들은 관습적 가치에 매몰되지 않고 후기 현대의 몸에 대한 새로운 시각인 몸을 통한 자신의 가치 생성 을 이미 삶에서 살아내고 있었다. 또 몸-자신이라는 몸의 주체성을 정초하면서 드러나는, 세계와 타인 의 진정한 의미를 그들의 삶에서 이미 그렇게 실천하고 있었다.
