This paper has investigated how physical environments of multiplex theater impact upon film audiences' service satisfaction and their revisit intention. Analysis results show that the internal environments and other linked service facilities affects significantly the audiences satisfaction. However, the theater lobby environment dose not affect significantly their overall satisfaction. On the other hand, audience satisfaction has been shown to be significantly related with the re-patronage intention as we expected. Furthermore, age, sex, and accompany patterns appear to moderate the relationship between environmental factors and the audience satisfaction. From the discussion, we conclude that environmental management of a multi-plex theater is critical to the determination of audience satisfaction and re-patronage intention. In addition, when audience groups are segmented by age, sex, and accompany pattern, theater manages can understand which environmental factors are considered important to their major audience groups. This will be helpful to manage theater environments with focus and efficiency.

본 연구에서는 복합상영관을 대상으로 물리적 환경이 소비자의 만족도와 재이용의도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 분석결과 극장의 내부환경과 부대시설연계의 우수성에 따라서 관람객들의 만족도가 상당히 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에, 휴게실 환경은 관람객의 만족도 결정에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 물리적 환경품질이 관람객의 만족도에 미치는 영향은 연령이나 성별 및 동행형태 등에 의해서 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과는 연령, 성별 그리고 동행형태에 따라 관람객을 세분화하여 극장의 주요 고객집단을 확인한 후 그들이 중요시하는 환경요소를 보다 세심하게 관리한다면 관람객의 만족도와 경영성과가 보다 향상될 수 있음을 시사한다.
