This study is on an integrated approach to audio science constituting science subjects in current secondary school education, and aims to suggest an instruction and education plan with a Pythagorean perspective. The most well-known theory of the Pythagorean School is that the protyle of the universe is numbers. It seems that it is because the School was able to observe a numerical ratio existing behind a particular phenomenon such as pitch of a sound. Pythagoras' insistence over a ratio between frequency of sound waves and a consonances is the very first scientific mention about sounds. His mentions we can find from his anecdotes through his life are three at large as follows: A mathematical ratio of sound; emphasis on the importance of silence compared to sounds; and indication of psychological and physical effects of sounds. For current science courses in secondary schools, audio science is presented in phase such as science for the middle school second year course, and physics I and physics II for high school. These are about nature of sound waves, structure and function of ears, and noise and the like in terms of contents. I gather and newly organize all the subjects about audio science provided with time differences, and here is where Pythagoras' mentions and anecdotes are coming in. It means educational subjects are re-structured by changing their orders from Pythagoras' perspective of about sound. And I almost include current educational courses. In addition, I try to suggest a fact that modern science is closely connected with the history of science from the ancient and, as a result, is a fruit of scientific thinking, and that these are also applied to science subjects in secondary schools. I believe that this challenge can raise interests of students towards science and can satisfy a demand of seeking a new point of view and convergence among subjects.

본 연구는 현행 중등학교 과학과 교육 과정에 포함된 소리과학에 대한 통합적 접근으로, 피타고라스의 관점에 따른 새 로운 교수-학습 계획을 제시하고자 한다. 피타고라스학파에 대하여 가장 잘 알려진 이론은 우주의 원질이 수라는 주장이 다. 이 근거는 소리의 음높이 같은 특정 현상의 배후에 수적인 비례관계가 내재해 있음을 관찰했기 때문으로 보인다. 음파 의 진동수와 협화음 사이에 존재하는 비례 관계에 대한 그의 지적은 소리에 대한 최초의 과학적 언급이다. 피타고라스의 일생과 남겨진 일화에서 찾아볼 수 있는 소리에 관한 언급은 다음의 세 가지이다. 소리의 수학적 비율관계, 소리와 대비되는 침묵의 중요성에 대한 강조 , 소리의 심리적, 신체적 효과에 대한 지적이다. 한편 중등학교 과학과 교육과정에서 소 리과학은 중학교 2학년 과학교과와 고등 학교의 물리I, 물리Ⅱ에서 단계적으로 제시된다. 내용요소로 본다면 음파 의 성질, 귀의 구조와 기능, 소음 등이다. 이렇게 시간차를 두고 배치된 소리과학을 모두 모아서 새롭게 구성하였는데, 이때 피타 고라스의 언급과 일화를 근거로 하였다. 즉 피타고라스의 소리에 대한 관점을 적 용하여 학습내용의 순서를 바꾸어 재구성 하였다. 이때 교육과정에 포함된 내용은 거의 포함 시켰다. 또한 현대 과학이 고대로 부터의 과학 의 역사와 밀접하게 연관되어 있고, 결국 과학적 사고의 결실이며, 이것은 중등학 교 과학의 경우에도 적용된다는 사실을 제시하려 하였다. 이런 시도는 과학에 대 한 학생들의 흥미 제고와 더불어 새로운 관점의 모색, 학문간 융합이라는 요구에 부합될 것이다.
