The goal of this paper is to argue the general education (Pampaedia) of J. A. Comenius, a Czech educational reformer (17C), and to seek a model of a Christian prenatal school by analysing his ‘Schola geniturae’. Through his whole life, Comenius preached and spread his ‘Pampaedia’ principles - to all the people who are God’s children, with all things of God’s intention, by all kinds of method, thoroughly- so that they might improve the whole world. He thought this kind of education could be realized through all stages of human life, and he designed 8 sorts of schools, including a school of death, as workshops of humanity. He suggested that the first step of these schools be started with impregnation. In other words, the prenatal education, rooted in the unborn child as solid basis of human life-long education through his parents, could be the foundation of humanity by God’s image. Comenius set up three classes of ‘Schola geniturae’, i.e. preparing-paar class, class for fathers, and class for mother as a workshop of prenatal education. It is strongly recommended that a class for the whole community (family, church) should be a good supplement to the model of Comenius, and that could be a good paradigm of Christian education for prenatal stage.

본 논문에서는 17c 체코의 형제단 비숍이며 사상가이자 교육가였던 코메니우스의 범교 육학의 맥락 속에서 그의 ‘태아학교’모델을 살펴봄으로써 우리가 추구해야할 기독교적 태 아교육의 틀을 구상해보고자 한다. 코메니우스는 하나님의 소생인 세상의 모든 사람에게 하나님이 뜻하신 모든 것을 철저 하게 가르침으로써 하나님의 형상을 회복하고 그들을 통한 세상의 개선을 꿈꾸는 ‘범교육 학’을 그의 일생을 통해 펼쳐 나갔다. 그는 이 교육은 인간의 일생을 통해 이루어지는 것 으로 보고 인간일생을 위한 교육의 장으로서 인생의 각 단계의 특성에 따른 7개의 학교와 죽음의 학교까지 포함하여 8개의 학교를 인간성의 연마장으로 제시하였다. 이 인생학교의 첫 단계를 코메니우스는 출생이 아니라 그 이전인 태아기로 보고 태아 기교육은 이미 수태를 준비하는 시기부터 시작되어야한다고 보았다. 수태기에 이미 부모 를 통해 하나님이 뜻하신 성품으로 기초가 마련되어야 이후의 인간교육이 제대로 이루어 진다는 것이다. 그것은 동시에 하나님의 교육방법이기도 한 것이다. 그는 태아기교육의 장 (場)으로 ‘태아학교 (Schola geniturae)’를 구상하고, 이 태아학교를 결혼준비반, 아버지 교육 반, 어머니 교육반의 3학급으로 나누었다. 여기에 공동체 교육반까지 보완된다면 좋은 기 독교적 태교의 패러다임이 될 것이다.
