Educational inequality in Korea has become more serious and has become established. Recently a socio-economic division along the lines of class has already escalated to a dangerous level in Korean society. The education welfare in the children of a multicultural family has also become a social issue. This study will discuss the roles of Korean Churches in education welfare polices for the educational alienated class such as multicultural families. Education welfare can be defended to provide support for all people to have the chance to access education and to reduce difference of quality of life in education. Multicultural families are likely to be in the educationally alienated class and lower-income groups in comparison with Koreans and foreigners. Korean churches can support the multicultural family to overcome educational disadvantage. This paper can provide a Christian perspective in educational welfare and practical support for multicultural families and show social solidarity with local communities in the present issues.

오늘날 한국사회는 양극화 현상이 심화되거나 심지어 고착되고 있는 시대이다. 최근 이러한 사회계층간의 사회경제적 불평등문제가 심화되는 현실에서 이주민 가정과 자녀들의 교육복지 문제는 더 이상 방치되어서는 안 될 사회문제가 되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사회의 교육소외계층인 이주민 가정의 교육복지에 관한 한국교회의 역할에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구는 교육복지를 모든 국민이 교육적 요구에 적합한 교육의 기회를 지원받아 교육적 성취를 얻을 수 있도록 필요한 서비스를 제공받거나 개인이나 사회적 요인에 의해 발생하는 교육 불균등의 격차를 해소하는 사회적인 행위라고 정의한다. 한국사회에서 상당수의 이주민 가정 자녀들은 경제, 지역, 문화, 언어, 인종 등에서 내국인과 비교해서 열악하고 교육 기회와 교육적 성취에서 취약한 계층이며 사회경제적으로 저소득층으로 고착될 가능성이 높다. 교회는 이러한 이주민 가정의 교육의 취약점을 극복하고 한국사회에서 이주민 가정의 교육복지를 위한 역할로서 교육복지에 대한 기독교적 시각과 지역사회와 연계한 지원과 연대를 제시하였다.
