The important intangible cultural treasure means such cultural assets designated as the objective of preservation among the cultural inheritance of our nation, as it is regarded very important and valuable in respect of the preservation and succession. It is a truth that no one can deny that through this effort our precious cultural inheritance has been preserved in its original shape not remarkably being deformed and retain the life. Also, the other cultural items that although their value is not highly estimated by the nation, but, which are regarded as worthy of preservation among the local cultural inheritance, are being preserved and cared as they are designated as the local intangible cultural inheritance according to the ordinance of the local government. As the era of local self-government commences in 1990s, the importance of them increases day by day as their value as of the representative cultural assets of the local region and the tourism product. Jinju Gyobang rite dance has been developed as today’s dance by Choi Wanja’s rite dance and Kim Nokju’s small book dance exquisitely unites by Kim Suak. Until today from Gweonbeon of Japanese colonial era and dissolution of it, Kim Suak did a main role in widening the stage role of Jinju traditional dance. Thus, Jinju Gyobang rite dance is not only the traditional dance which has the characteristics of Gyobang field which has been succeeded through such long time but also one of play dances like cultural inheritance which has been inherited until today since 900 years ago, as one of important dances throughout Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties. However, recently the precious status of it is endangered to be possibly seriously damaged as frequently non-qualified persons disguise the authentic qualified dancers. Accordingly, we sincerely urge the self-reflection of the preservation committee and efficient suggestion of measure and also it is considered that in the part of the governmental institute too a practical management like a release of the officially approved genealogy and examination of performance site should be done.

중요무형문화재란 보존과 전승의 가치가 매우 중요하다고 판단되는 우리 민족의 문화적 소산 중에서 문화재 보호법에 따라 보호대상으로 지정한 것을 말한다. 이를 통해 소중한 우리의 문화유산이 크게 변형되지 않고 그 원형을 잘 보존하면서 명맥을 유지하고 있다는 것은 누구도 부인할 수 없는 사실이다. 또한, 국가적으로는 그 가치를 인정받지는 못하지만, 지역에 기반을 두고 있으며, 지역의 특성을 가지고 있는 문화재 중 보호가치가 있다고 판단되는 그 외의 종목들은 지방정부가 정한 조례에 따라 지방무형문화재로 지정 및 관리가 이루어지고 있다. 1990년대 지방자치시대가 출범하면서 지역의 대표적인 문화적 자산 및 관광상품으로서의 가치가 부각되는 등 중요성은 날로 증대되고 있다. 진주교방굿거리춤은 김수악에 의해 최완자의 굿거리 춤과 김녹주의 소고춤이 절묘하게 합쳐져 오늘날의 춤사위로 성립되었다. 김수악은 일제시대의 권번과 권번해체 이후부터 현재에 이르기까지 진주 전통춤의 무대역할을 도모하는데 중심역할을 했다. 그러므로 진주교방굿거리춤은 장구한 세월을 거쳐 전승된 교방계통의 성격을 지닌 전통춤 일 뿐만 아니라 고려, 조선조를 통하여 중요한 춤으로 900여 년이 지난 오늘날까지 전승되어온 문화재적인 놀이 춤의 하나이다. 하지만 근래 들어 미자격자들이 이수자를 사칭하는 일이 빈번하면서 그 위상이 심각히 훼손될 위기에 처해 있다. 따라서, 감독기관인 관의 공인된 계보의 공개와 현장 점검 등 실질적인 개선방안이 이루어져야 하며, 보존회 차원에서도 활발한 활동과 더불어 효과적인 방안 제시를 체계적으로 해 나가야 할 것으로 사료 된다.
