Sungmi, Kwon. 2013. An Analysis of the Cultural Items in the Conversations in the KSL Textbooks. Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture. Vol. 10-1. 1-24. The aims of the study are to analyze the hierarchy of the cultural items, based on the degree of the difficulty, presented in the conversation texts in the Korean language textbooks and Gukjaehangugeopyojunmohyeong, the standardized international model for Korean language education. The texts explored for the study are 523 conversations in the 16 textbooks(4 series×4 levels) published by the universities. The study first collects and categorizes the cultural items in the conversations according to the categorization made by pyojunmohyeong, and it comparatively analyzes similarities and differences them with those of the pyojunmohyeong. 본 연구의 목적은 한국어 통합 교재의 대화 텍스트에 나타난 문화 교육 항목들이 국제통용한국어표준모형에서 제시한 등급별 문화 교육 항목들과 얼마나 상통하는지 분석함으로써, 표준모형의 문화 항목들이 의사소통기능 향상을 목적으로 한 말하기 교육에 활용하는 것이 가능한지 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구의 조사 대상은 4개 대학기관에서 출판된 4종의 통합교재 중 1-4급 교재 16권(4종×4등급)에 포함된 523개 대화 텍스트이다. 조사 방법은 다음과 같다. 먼저 표준모형에서 문화 교육의 항목을 추출한 방식대로 교재 대화 텍스트에서 문화 요소들을 수집하고, 수집된 항목들을Hammerly(1982)의 문화 범주 분류 기준에 따라 범주를 판단하고 분류하였다. 연구 결과, 말하기 영역에서 다루는 문화 항목은 표준모형에서 제시하는 등급별 문화 항목과 등급에 있어 뚜렷한 차이를 보이지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 표준모형의 문화 영역의 문화 교육 항목을 선정할 때 의사소통 능력을 신장시키기 위한 도구로 보지는 않는다고 하지만, 실제적으로 표준모형의 문화 영역의 난이도는 의사소통의 중추인 말하기 영역의 그것과 차이가 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다.
