The purpose of this study was to examine the workout motivation of elementary school players, their workout attitude, troubles, counseling and career awareness by gender, sporting event and geographic region in an effort to provide some information on their self-awareness and career guidance. The subjects in this study were 462 elementary school players, on whom a survey was conducted. The collected data were analyzed, and the findings of the study were as follows: First, whether there were any gaps among the elementary school players in career awareness by gender was analyzed. The boys started to get exercise mostly due to their own aptitude and abilities, and the girls were most affected by the advice of teachers in that aspect. Second, whether there were any differences in career awareness according to sporting event was investigated. And it's found that they started to get exercise during their third or fourth year of elementary school, irrespective of sporting events that included individual contact sports, individual noncontact sports, team contact sports and team noncontact sports. Concerning the object of exercise, they worked out to stay fit or as a hobby, and regarding a dream job, the individual sport players had a stronger tendency to aspire to become physical education teachers or sport instructors, and the team sport players had a stronger tendency to dream of becoming business team players, pro players or sport instructors. Third, whether there were any gaps in career awareness according to geographic region was analyzed, and both of the urban and rural players thought that their parents looked at their future career in a positive manner. There was a stronger tendency for the urban players not to think all occupations were equally honorable, and the urban players knew better than the rural players about the career they intended to choose. The urban players took more considerations than the rural players on pay and job stability other than their own aptitude and interest in association with career choice, and both groups viewed their academic standing as the biggest problem with career choice.
