This paper discusses Biblical Groundwork for Christian education, and focuses on the understanding of Scripture as God's self-revelation of reality. This paper is composed of two part: The first part is Biblical groundwork for Christian Education in Old Testament, including the Bible as a God's revelation, various leaders and their duties of education of the Bible; The second part is Biblical groundwork for Christian education in New Testament, including Jesus and His teaching of the Bible, the apostles and leadership and their teaching of the Bible, and early church model as the context of Bible teaching. Christian education arises from fertile soil of the Bible. We look to the Biblical record for both its origin and form. Its purposes, methods, and institutional expressions are rooted in the Scriptures. Scripture is regarded as the primary lens through which Christian educators perceive and prescribe the character of Christian education. The main reason for placing such emphasis upon the Scriptures is the claims of revelation and inspiration made by the Bible. It is special revelation of God, and Christian educator is compelled to formulate a model of Christian education consistent with it. The teaching function of the church flows from the Bible. It does not ignore the contemporary setting and the developmental needs of the learner, but it finds its roots in the Word of God. The understanding of Scripture as a revelation of reality gives direction of Christian Education. What we think about God indicates what we do about education. When we consider any proper understanding of the Biblical foundation of Christian education we must account for God. What we think about God, however, depends on what we think about the Scriptures. As Christians we can rest in the assurance that the Bible is our only infallible guide in judging ultimate truth. The crisis of the recent debate over the Scripture and its defense has tended to detract the church from its central task of actually teaching the Bible. Anyone can confess a high view of the nature of the Scripture, but ultimately the real test is whether or not it is read, taught, studied, and lived in the life and community of faith. The direction of our educational stance is plain. It lies in a return to a central principle of education-namely, that of going to original sources. We must teach the Bible itself. We must return to the Bible, which has made every renewal movement in protestantism possible.

기독교교육이 진정으로 기독교교육이 되기 위해서는 성경적 토대 위에 세워져야 한다. 성경을 실재에 대한 하나님의 계시로 이해할 때만이 기독교교육이 가능하다. 본 논문은 기독교교육의 성경적 토대에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 본 논문은 두 부분으로 구성되는데, 첫 번째 부분은 하나님 계시로서의 성경, 각종 직분과 성경교육의 의무를 포함하여 기독교교육의 구약 성경적 토대를 다루었으며, 두 번째 부분은 예수님과 성경교육, 사도들과 지도자들의 성경교육, 그리고 성경교육의 현장으로서의 초대교회 모델을 포함하여 기독교교육의 신약 성경적 토태를 다루었다. 성경을 통한 하나님의 계시는 오늘날 우리에게 기독교교육의 원천이 되는 하나님의 언약 백성과 예수님과 사도들의 실례를 보여주고 있다. 실재에 대한 계시로서 성경을 이해하는 것은 기독교교육의 방향을 제공한다. 신구약을 살펴볼 때 성경교육의 당위성 및 필요성이 두드러지게 나타나지만 오늘날 기독교교육의 기초가 되는 성경교육이 제대로 이루어지고 있지 않은 현실이다. 인간의 인격변화와 행동의 변화를 불러일으키고 마침내 믿음 안에서 새로운 삶의 모습이 형성되기 위해서는 하나님의 말씀에 대한 교육이 우리의 과제이다. 교회의 중심적 과제는 초대교회에서부터 하나님의 백성들을 하나님의 말씀으로 가르치고 그들을 신앙 안에서 자라게 하여 그리스도의 몸인 교회를 세우기 위한 교육적 행위였다. 그러므로 교회는 그 자체가 성경말씀의 교육과 더불어 존재한다. 성경을 잃는 것은 모든 것을 잃는 것이다. 교육적 자세의 방향은 분명하다. 그것은 교육의 중심적인 원리로 되돌아가는 것이다. 기독교교육의 성경적 토대를 바로 인식하는 일에서 출발해야만 올바른 기독교교육의 수립과 실천은 물론 개혁교회의 모든 갱신운동도 가능할 것이다.
