The purpose of this article is to seek for improvement in the system for Korean language teachers' qualification with the aim of the academic development of Korean language education, specially through a critical review of the curriculum at graduate school. First of all, this article reviews the curriculum at some leading graduate schools that open a course in Korean language education. And then, the role or function of these graduate schools will be evaluated by the comparison of graduate school of education. Finally, examining the limits and problems of the existing curriculum at graduate schools, this article tries to propose the improvement in the system for Korean language teachers' qualification and to introduce several amendments to the fundamental law on the korean language.
