This paper is based on the assumption that the human character of a teacher is related to the schoolgirls (and -boys) positive or negative attitudes toward physical education. It attempts to unravel to what extent teachers character influences their disliking attitudes toward teachers physical instruction. Our research made thematic three cases which refer to two schoolgirls and one schoolboy who came to a disliking of the physical education as a subject matter. This study collected the data and analysed them by employing qualitative research method and arrived at the following understanding: 1. Teachers emotional expressions (e.g.scaring and unpleasant gestures and words imbued with emotions) led to the girls and boys negative attitudes toward physical education.2. Teachers discriminating attitudes toward girls and boys and his biased opinon of those who learn slow brought about their negative attitudes. 3. Teachers lack of enthusiasm for his teaching activity and his reluctance to praise the girls and boys resulted in their disliking attitudes.

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 체육수업에서 교사의 성격요인으로 인한 학생 소외 원인을 이해하여 체육수업에 지도 자료로 활용하는 데 있다. 연구대상은 안양시에 소재한 A 초등학교 6학년 168명이며 설문과 수업 관찰, 상담을 통해 교사의 성격 요인으로 인한 소외 아동 3명(남1, 여2)을 선정하였다. 자료수집은 심층 면담과 비참여 수업 관찰을 실시하여 원인 연쇄 분석 방법과 귀납적 범주 분석을 통해 감정적 표현, 교사의 차별, 부정적 교수행동으로 소외 원인이 분류되었다. 감정적 표현에 의한 소외 원인은 ‘무서운 표정’, ‘큰 소리 야단’, ‘자극적 단어’ 등이고, 교사의 차별에 의한 소외 원인은 ‘여자라고 무시해’, ‘여자에 대한 편애’, ‘기능 부진아 홀대’ 등이다. 부정적 교수행동으로 이한 소외 원인으로는 ‘지적이 많아요’, ‘칭찬해 주세요’. ‘수업에 대한 열정 부족’ 등으로 이해할 수 있었다.
