The purpose of this study is to discover how learners with diverse cultural background recognize and understand the specialty and universality of learner-centered Korean culture. From the point of view of Korean language teachers, when teaching a Korean culture class, it is possible to conduct a class by giving emphasis to the superiority of common culture objectives or by overlooking what learners have felt. This kind of culture education can possibly create rejection of cultural objectives among the learners or can become a reason to reduce their desire for learning.
Learners can indirectly experience another culture using their own medium within the sphere of the culture they belong to or have a stereotype of culture objectives by misunderstanding their experiences in small-scaled situation around them as common culture. This paper will examine such cultural stereotypes and identify through the learner’s point of view which Korean cultures approached directly by the learner were shocking. Moreover, it will assist a natural approach to an objective culture and the active acceptance of special cultures understanding the difference between collective and individual culture Through this study, it is tried to observe the opinions of academic and occupational learners about Korean people and culture as well as the cultural difference learners felt in their experience coming directly to Korea and the learner’s expectation of Korean culture they felt through Korea dramas, movies and so on in their native countries Using this learner’s opinion, it is possible to examine the special features and misunderstandings of Korean culture among learners.
Furthermore, it will give the opportunity to double check once more through learners opinions about Korean custom and culture that Koreans have overlooked or have never thought of.

본 논문은 한국어 교육에서 다양하게 접근하고 있는 문화 교육에서 한국인의 시선 중심에서 바라본 문화 교육이 아니라, 학문목적과 직업목적 학습자의 시선에서 본 한국인의 일상문화를 살피고 그에 대한 학습자 시선의 변화와 한국 문화 적응에 대한 제반을 살펴보고자 한다.
한국어 교육을 하는 교수자의 입장에서 본다면, 학습자에게 한국문화를 교육시킬 때 일방적인 목표문화의 우수성만을 강조하거나 학습자들이 느낀 부분은 간과한 체 수업을 진행할 수 있다. 이러한 문화 교육은 자칫 학습자에게 목표문화에 대한 거부감을 불러일으키거나 학습 의욕을 저하시키는 원인이 될 수도 있다. 학습자들은 자신들이 속한 문화의 범주 안에서 타문화에 대해 자신이 매체를 통해 간접적으로 경험하거나 주변에서 경험한 소규모의 상황에서 접한 경험을 일반적인 문화로 오해하여 목표 문화에 대한 고정관념을 가지고 있을 수 있다. 이러한 문화적 고정관념이 무엇인지 어떠한 것이 있는지 살펴보고, 학습자가 한국에 와서 직접 한국의 문화를 접하면서 이해하게 된 문화 또는 충격적인 문화가 무엇인지 학습자의 시선을 통해 확인해 보고자 한다. 또한 집단과 개인의 문화 간 차이점을 인식하고 이해하도록 하여 목표 문화에 대한 자연스러운 접근과 특수 문화에 대한 적극적인 수용을 돕고자 한다.
본 연구를 통해서 학문목적과 직업목적 학습자들이 한국 사람들과 한국의 문화에 대해 어떠한 생각을 하고 왔는지, 그리고 학습자들의 모국에서 한국 드라마나 영화 등을 통해 느꼈던 한국의 문화에 대한 기대와 한국에 직접 와서 경험하면서 느낀 문화적 차이점에 대한 의견을 살피고, 이러한 학습자들의 의견을 통하여 학습자중심에서 느꼈던 한국 문화의 특징과 오해에 대해 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다. 또한 한국인들이 간과하고 있었던 또는 미처 생각하지 못했던 한국인의 모습과 문화에 대해 학습자들의 의견을 통해 다시 한 번 재점검 할 수 있는 계기가 될 것이라 본다
