The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of small group paper-folding activity on young children's spatial perception, social and language ability. The subjects used in this study were forty eight 5 year-old children who attended Y kindergarten in Gunpo-si. The mean age of the subjects was 71.95 months. The experimental group participated in the small group paper-folding activity, while the comparative group participated in the general molding activity. 'Korea-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition', 'The Bronson Social and Task Skill Profile(Bronson, 1985)' and 'The Construction Meaning Comprehension Test(Seoul Community Rehabilitation Center, 2009)' were used in collection of data. The data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 computer program and t-test was used to measure signification. It was revealed that the scores of the experimental group in the young children's spatial perception, social and language ability were significantly higher than the scores of the comparative group. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the small group paper-folding activity is effective in promoting young children's spatial perception, social and language ability.

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 소집단 종이접기 활동이 공간 지각력과 사회성 및 언어능력에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 연구대상은 만 5세 유아 48명이며, 평균 월령은 71.95개월이었다. 실험집단 유아들은 소집단 종이접기 활동에 참여하였고, 비교집단 유아들은 기존에 실시해 온 일반적인 조형활동을 실시하였다. 연구도구로는 유아의 공간 지각력 측정을 위해 ‘K-WISC-Ⅲ’, 유아의 사회성 측정은 Bronson의 ‘The Bronson Social and Task Skill Profile’를 사용하였고 언어능력 측정을 위해 서울 장애인 종합복지관 개발 ‘구문의미 이해력 검사’를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 독립표본 t-검증을 통해 집단 간 차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과 실험집단이 비교집단 보다 공간 지각력, 사회성과 언어능력 점수에서 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타나, 본 연구에서 개발한 소집단 종이접기 활동이 유아의 공간 지각력, 사회성과 언어능력 증진에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
