Recently, juvenile violence/school violence has become a major issue in mass media and public opinion in our society. Juvenile violence refers to juvenile behavior to physical and psychological harm others such as threatening behavior, physical and verbal violence. The aim in this study is to analyze empirically on the indirect/direct effects of family, school, peer factors on juvenile violence. The data that we have analysed here were obtained from a self-reported survey conducted in Seoul in July, 2008 by Korean Institute of Criminology. The sample consists of a total of 1,418 middle/high school students aged between 12 and 18. Major findings of our analysis are as follows. Familial, school, and peer factors has direct effect on juvenile violence, and an indirect effect on juvenile violence through children's emotional and cognitive factors. Parental violent behavior, parental attachment, and delinquent friend is strongly related to juvenile violent behavior. And we wish this study to contribute to the understand and explanation juvenile violent delinquence in our society. From our study, it is implied that future research should attempt to develop a more considerable model and the measures on the major concepts and analysis methods on these issue.

이 연구에서는 청소년 폭력비행에 대한 가정 및 학교, 또래친구, 심리적 요인들의 영향을 분석하려는 것이다. 청소년 시기에는 사회활동 및 상호작용은 가정, 학교, 그리고 친구영역에서 이루어진다. 이러한 영역에서 청소년들의 사회적 관계 및 상호작용양상과 심리적 요인들이 청소년의 폭력비행에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 경험적 자료를 통하여 종합적으로 분석하고자 한다. 이 연구에서 사용된 자료는 한국형사정책연구원에서 2008년 서울시에 있는 중학교, 고등학교 학생을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사방법을 통하여 수집된 것이다. 조사대상자는 1,381명이며, 주된 분석방법으로는 신뢰도분석, 상관관계 및 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 분석결과, 청소년의 폭력비행은 가정 및 학교, 그리고 친구요인 등에 의하여 두루 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 다른 요인들을 통제한 분석에서는 이러한 요인들 중에서 부모와 자녀간의 애착, 부모의 폭력성, 그리고 비행친구요인이 청소년의 폭력비행에 직접적이고 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 청소년의 심리적 요인들을 매개요인으로 설정한 분석에서는 청소년의 활동영역인 가정 및 학교, 친구요인들은 청소년의 폭력에 직접적인 영향을 미치기도 하지만, 분노 등의 심리적 요인을 통하여 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 청소년 폭력비행에 대한 정책적 측면에서 가정 및 학교, 친구요인, 그리고 심리적 요인들을 종합적으로 고려하여야 한다는 것을 다시 한 번 일깨워준다고 할 수 있다.
