This study was to investigate the effects of activity-based embedded instruction on social behavior of a young child with developmental delays in the inclusive setting, using naturalistic intervention strategies for the improvement of social skills. The intervention was processed targeting a three-year old child with the pervasive developmental disorder and low social behavior for three months. Partial-interval recording of 10 seconds and multiple probe design across settings were used for investigating the effect of intervention. Activity-based embedded instruction was applied to the child after collecting the data on baseline and social behavior which is the target behavior of this study was measured under three circumstances of planned activities, child-led activities, and daily routine activities following each intervention. In result, Activity-based embedded instruction brought about positive changes in both social initiation and reaction of young child with development delay and the changes are also maintained up after the intervention.

이 연구는 통합어린이집에 재원 중인, 발달지체를 보이는 유아의 사회성 증진을 위해 자연적 중재방법를 활용한 것으로, 통합어린이집 하루 일과에서 진행되는 주요 상황에 대해 활동중심 삽입교수가 발달지체 유아의사회적 행동에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 연구대상은 발달영역 전반에 걸쳐 지체를 보이고 낮은 사회성을 보이는 유아(만 3세반) 1명을 연구대상으로, 3개월 동안 중재를 진행하였다. 중재 효과를 검증하기 위한 자료는 10초 간 부분간격 기록법을 사용하여 상황간 중다간헐기초선 설계로 수집되었다. 기초선에 대한 자료 수집 후해당 유아에게 활동중심 삽입교수 중재를 실시하였으며, 매번의 중재 후에는 학급에서 진행되는 계획된 활동상황, 유아 주도 활동 상황, 일상적인 일과활동 상황 등의 3가지 상황에서 목표 행동인 사회적 행동을 측정하였다. 연구결과 활동중심 삽입교수 중재는 발달지체 유아의 사회적 시작행동과 반응행동 모두에 긍정적 변화를 가져왔고, 이 변화 역시 중재 후에도 유지됨이 입증되었다.
