The effect of Teacher’s Leadership on Youth Citizenship -Focusing on the Charismatic Leadership and Servant Leadership-

This study examined the influence of class teacher's leadership upon adolescent's citizenship and analyzed which leadership was effective for the adolescent's cultivation of citizenship. Study findings are as follows: All the teacher's leadership had positive influence upon adolescent's citizenship. In particular, teacher's leadership highly correlated with such a sub-variable of adolescent's citizenship as community consciousness. Teacher's leadership, perceived by adolescents, had significant influence upon adolescent's citizenship. The variance persuasive power of teacher's charisma leadership in adolescent's citizenship was 24.2% and it was significant. The variance persuasive power of teacher's servant leadership was 24.1% and it was significant as well. The most influential demographic feature upon the level of adolescent's citizenship was the level of communication with parents on political and social issues(r=8.859, p<.001) and it had significant influence upon such sub-variables of adolescent's citizenship as the consciousness of participation and autonomy. The significance of this study is to make teachers take interest in the leadership for adolescents in actual site of education and present the clue that was helpful for adolescent's cultivation of citizenship.
