In this paper, contract based department system, which enables specialized high school students to secure employment and next stage of education simultaneously after graduation, is considered. This differs from specialized high school students' current practice. That is, after graduation, they tend to secure employment first and then go on to the next stage of education afterwards. From literature review, it is easily noticed that the purport of contract based department system coincides with that of specialized high school. Then a survey is conducted after revealing information on contract based department system to specialized high school students to study the impact of knowing contract based department system on expectation from it. From the survey, the following insights are gleaned. First, it is found that knowing contract based department system and purport of it has statistically significant impact on specialized high school students' expectation of it. It also turns out that knowing contract based department system and purport of it has statistically significant impact on specialized high school students' career choice. Therefore, it is necessary to provide information on contract based department system to specialized high school students. It is also necessary to make institutional support for efficient and smooth operation of contract based department system.

이 논문에서는 특성화고등학교 학생들에게 계약학과 제도에 대한 인지정도를 높이고 이를 통하여 그들이 진로를 선택하는데 있어서 과거의 선취업 후진학 중심의 진로선택이 아닌 취업과 동시에 학업을 병행할 수 있도록 하는 이론적 근거를 제시하고자 한다. 먼저 관련 문헌으로부터 계약학과의 설립취지가 특성화고등학교의 설립취지와 일치함을 알 수 있다. 다음으로 특성화고등학교에 재학 중인 학생을 대상으로 계약학과에 대한 내용을 설명한 다음 계약학과의 인지가 그로 인한 기대에 미치는 영향에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문분석으로부터 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 먼저 계약학과의 제도와 설립취지에 대한 지각은 계약학과에 대한 기대에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 계약학과의 제도와 계약학과의 설립취지에 대한 지각은 진로선택에 대한 기대에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 특성화고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 계약학과에 대한 적극적인 홍보와 제도적인 지지가 필요함을 알 수 있다.
