A address term in the Indo-European languages is, according to Brown / Gilman(1960) and Brown/Ford(1964), determined by the relation between power and solidarity of speaker and addressee. But, at the case of Korean language, speaker expresses more variously the relation to the addressee than the Indo-European languages (eg Title, Name, Second Person Pronouns, Kinship address terms etc.) And more criterions are applied to this use of the name than in the Indo-European because of social difference of Korea. The purpose of this paper is to find out the essential determinant of the korean name (eg social status of addressee, age, sex, information of addressee, situation of dialogue) and to ask their meaning.
