The Purpose of this study is to design an integrated curriculum from the viewpoints
of holistic education, which is now considered as an alternative approach to modernistic education. Holistic education can be considered as an alternative approach to solve these problems of modernistic education, and at the same time seeks to restore the wholeness of human being with an emphasis on spirituality and meaning. From the viewpoint of holistic education, we need to incorporate the frame of environmental education into the perspectives in the following: 1) to emphasize a respect for life and relationships among living things; 2) To emphasize earth ecology education and earth community education; 3) To introduce education and transpersonal psychological education partly; 4) To emphasize the education which integrate body, emotions, consciousness, the spirit; 5) To emphasize an environment in which teachers and students would be real or genuine their communication and meeting. The environmental education has multi-level and multi-dimensional properties. Therefore, it needs to be a various approach. Holistic education suggests transdisciplinary approach for environmental education. Following this viewpoint, this research is carried out through integrating the Gurjieff's Enneagram, Gardner's multiple intelligence, and Story model into a holistic model. This study has focused on understanding and internalization of learners on environmental education., which is authenticity of all education.

이 논문은 21세기 대안적 교육패러다임으로 인식되고 있는 홀리스틱교육에 관련된 연구들의 성과를 정리하여 그 연구에 담겨진 홀리스틱(holistic)교육의 개념, 특징, 원리를 살펴보고, 환경교육을 주제로 홀리스틱 통합교육과정을 구성하였다. 환경교육은 홀리스틱교육의 핵심개념으로서 이는 홀리스틱이라는 용어의 의미와의 관련성은 물론, 생태계 법칙의 제1원리인 상호 의존성과 상호 연계성, 통합적이고 영적인 자각을 이끌기 위해서 개체의 주변 환경과의 관련성에 필연적으로 관심을 가지지 않을 수 없다. “생태계의 병과 교육의 병 모두의 뿌리는 같다”는 것이 홀리스틱교육의 근본적인 시각이다.
먼저 이 환경교육에 대한 다양한 모형을 제시하여 통합교육과정을 구성하였다. 첫째, 생태계와 환경을 주제로 Miller와 Fogarty의 통합교육과정 모형을 통합하고, 둘째, 홀리스틱교육 실천을 위한 통합교육과정 모형으로 Miller와 Fogarty 모형의 개념적 통합을 시도하고, 이를 ‘생태와 환경’ 측면에서 접근하여 적용한다. 두 번째 모형은 Gurdjieff의 에니어그램을 이용하여 환경교육의 관점과 환경호르몬의 침투과정, 다중지능, 환경오염, 홀리스틱교육의 3대 관점, 환경교육의 목표, 인간․자연․학문이라는 주제를 에니어그램을 이용하여 통합모형을 시도하였다. 셋째, 환경을 주제로 Miller의 이야기모델(story model)을 부분적으로 수정하여 제시하고, 환경․생태계․오염을 주제로 한 스토리모델을 제시하였다.
