The works of Hanjungrok which Hyekyunggung Hong wrote can be thought as medicines to heal her wounds and traumas. Writing and confessions which are all helpful to heal wounds have been made naturally when she wrote Hanjungrok. The work of Hanjungrok which was written in Jungjo's time shows that she was liberated from sense of guilt and her ego was integrated through writing and confessions. In the another work of Hanjungrok which was written after the demise of Jungjo she appealed that the terrible disaster of her parents' home had been unjust. As long as she wrote it, it seems that her anger was getting alleviated. After that, in the another work of Hanjungrok, she induced Soonjo to follow Jungjo's intention to demonstrate the innocence of her own parents' home. In the final work of Hanjungrok which was written after Queen Jungsoon's demise, as one of the highest in the court, she re-diagnosed the disaster of Imohwabyun and she showed the prescriptions about it. As was stated above, the works of Hanjungrok are not only medicines that Hyekyunggung alleviated and healed her own wounds but also custom-made prescriptions that she developed in order to heal her own disease completely.

본고에서는 혜경궁이 10년간에 걸쳐 집필했던 네 편의 <한중록>을 혜경궁의 삶의 주기에 맞추어 세 시기로 구분하고, 정조 재위시(1편), 정조가 승하한 후(2편, 3편), 정순왕후가 승하 한 후(4편)로 나누어 고찰했는데, 이 <한중록>들은 결과적으로 혜경궁의 상처를 치유하는 데 도움이 되었던 약품이라고 보았다. 왜냐하면 혜경궁이 과거 자신의 상처를 <한중록>을 통해 고백함으로써, 상처 치유에 도움이 되는 ‘글쓰기’와 ‘고백’이 자연스럽게 이루어졌고, 또 그러 한 과정을 통해서 혜경궁의 상처는 치유되었거나 완화되었기 때문이다. 정조가 재위할 때 쓴 <한중록>(1편)에서는 글쓰기와 고백을 통해 혜경궁이 죄의식에서 해 방되었고, 또 혜경궁이 ‘자기서사를 작품서사’로 드러냄으로써 혜경궁의 자아가 ‘건강한 자아’ 로 통합되었음을 보여주었다. 정조가 승하한 후에 쓴 <한중록>(2편)에서는, 친정의 참화가 부당함을 호소했는데, 그 글 을 쓰는 동안 혜경궁의 분노는 차츰 완화되어 갔다. 그 후 혜경궁은 좌절과 실의를 극복하기 위해 다시 <한중록>(3편)을 집필하여 정조의 효성을 크게 부각시켰는데, 이는 순조의 효성을 자극하고 혜경궁의 불안감을 줄여주는데 도움이 되었고, 또 ‘임오화변’의 진상을 모르는 순조 로 하여금 정조의 뜻을 좇아 친정 일문이 무죄함을 밝혀 주도록 유도하는데 유효했다. 정순왕후 승하 후에 쓴 <한중록>(4편)에서는, 궁중의 큰 어른으로서 혜경궁 나름대로 ‘임 오화변’을 재진단하고, 그에 따른 맞춤 처방까지도 제시했다. 따라서 혜경궁이 ‘자기서사를 작품서사화’한 <한중록>들은 혜경궁이 자신의 병을 치유하 고 상처를 완화시킨 약품이기도 했으며, 또 자신의 고질병을 완치하기 위해서 특별히 개발한 맞춤 처방전이기도 했다.
