The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of secondary school teachers' participation in decision making on teacher efficacy. For these purposes, The researcher carried out a survey on 262 teachers in Seoul area's 22 schools(Middle School 11, High School 11). The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 version program, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The major results of this study were as follows: First, There were significant differences in the teachers' participation when making a decision according to the teachers' background factors such as position, foundation, and membership of a teacher's organization. Second, there were significant differences in teacher efficacy and its subfactor, self-regulatory efficacy, according to the teachers' background factors such as position, foundation, and membership of a teacher's organization. Third, There was a significant positive correlation between teachers' participation in decision making and teacher efficacy. In conclusion, given the teachers' perception of participation in a decision making according to their position, it's clear that there were still restricted chances for them to participate in the decision making processes regarding school administration.

본 연구는 중등교원의 의사결정 참여 수준이 교사효능감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 규명하고, 특히 의사결정 참여의 어떤 요소들이 교사효능감에 영향을 미치는지를 살펴봄으로써 교사의 의사결정 참여에 대한 개선방안을 제언하고자 수행되었다. 연구대상은 서울시 소재 중학교와 일반계 고등학교에 재직 중인 남녀교사 262명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 측정도구로는 박연경과 이성은(2006)의 의사결정참여검사를 사용하였고, 김아영과 김미진(2004)의 교사효능감 척도를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과는 첫째, 의사결정 참여에 대하여 보직교사, 교원단체에 가입한 교사, 국·공립학교 교사가 그렇지 않은 교사보다 의사결정 참여가 더 높은 것으로 지각하였고 둘째, 교사효능감 역시 보직교사, 교원단체에 가입한 교사, 국·공립학교 교사가 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며 셋째, 중등교사의 의사결정 참여와 교사효능감 간에는 유의미한 정적 상관을 나타내 보였다. 특히, 중등교사가 의사결정 과정에 참여 할수록 교사효능감이 더 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 중등교원의 배경변인별 의사결정 참여 수준을 더욱 확대할 필요성이 있을 것이다. 이에 본 연구자는 의사결정 참여의 개선방안에 대하여 제언하고 있다.
