The purpose of this study was to find the relationship between the internet using and social competence, school satisfaction of elementary student. For this purpose, a structured questionaire was adopted and distributed to the subjects of elementary student of 4-6 classes in Incheon city .The collected data were analyzed by SPSS12.0 program for frequency, percentage, cross table, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, multiple linear regression. The findings of this study are as follows : First, the frequent internet using time and absorption degree were significantly the highest in 6 classes, the boys, the low grade of school record. The social competence was significantly the lowest in the boys, the low grade of school record and the school satisfaction was significantly the lowest in the low grade of school record. Second, the elementary student were lower on social competence when they were higher on internet using time and absorption degree. Third, the elementary student were lower on school satisfaction when they were higher on internet using time and absorption degree.
The conclusion is that the frequent internet using time and absorption degree of the elementary student have a negative influence on the social competence and the school satisfaction.

본 연구는 초등학생의 인터넷 사용과 사회적 능력, 학교생활 만족도에 관한 연구로서 아동관련 변인(학년, 성별, 학업성적)에 따라 사회적 능력, 학교생활 만족도는 어떠한 차이가 있으며, 인터넷 사용에 따라 아동의 사회적 능력과 학교생활 만족도는 어떤 차이가 있는지, 또한 인터넷 사용이 아동의 사회적 능력과 학교생활 만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 남, 여 아동 308명을 대상으로 그들의 인터넷 사용과 사회적 능력, 학교생활 만족도를 측정하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 아동관련 변인에 따른 사회적 능력, 학교생활 만족도의 차이를 살펴보면, 먼저 아동의 사회적 능력은 남학생이 여학생보다 사회참여도가 낮게 나타났으며, 학업성적이 낮을 때 사회적 능력의 하위영역 모두 낮게 나타났다. 학교생활만족도는 학업성적이 낮은 경우 학교생활만족도 하위영역 모두 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 인터넷 사용시간이 많고, 몰입정도가 높을 때 사회적 능력이 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 인터넷 사용시간이 많고 몰입정도가 높을 때 아동의 학교생활 만족도가 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다 .넷째, 아동의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 변인은 학업성적, 인터넷 사용시간 ,몰입정도, 성별의 순으로 나타났으며, 학교생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 인터넷 사용시간, 몰입정도, 성별, 학업성적의 순으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 아동의 사회적 능력과 학교생활만족도에 인터넷 사용시간이나 몰입정도가 중요한 변인임을 제시해 주었다.
