Focusing on multi-dimensional of moral knowledge, on this study I investigate the concept and importance of reasonableness emphasized on community of inquiry.
Narrowing definitions of moral knowledge raised concerns over discordance between the moral thinking and action in moral education. Community of inquiry think that the moral knowledge combine critical thinking with caring thinking, and these position of community of inquiry propose a solution to several critiques raised in moral education.
Reasonableness is a ability emphasized by community of inquiry theoretician, including the M. Lipman, and it is in line with the conception of Mean's practical wisdom by the Aristoteles. If we teach multi-dimensional practical wisdom to students, integrative moral education with reason, will, and emotion will be accomplished.

본 연구는 도덕적 지식의 다차원적 속성에 주목해, 탐구공동체에서 강조하고 있는 합당성의 개념을 살펴보고 합당성이 한국의 도덕교육의 현실에서 지닌 중요성을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다.
그동안 한국의 도덕교육에 대해 도덕적 사고와 행동 간의 불일치 문제가 제기된 이유는 협소한 도덕적 지식의 개념규정에서 연유하는 것이다. 도덕적 지식을 비판적 사고와 배려적 사고의 합동산물로 본 탐구공동체의 입장은 한국의 도덕교육에 제기된 일련의 비판에 일정한 해법을 제시해 주고 있다.
합당성은 립맨을 위시한 탐구공동체 이론가들이 강조하는 능력으로서, 아리스토텔레스가 강조한 중용의 실천적 지혜와 맥을 같이 하고 있다. 논자는 탐구공동체 이론가들이 주장한 것처럼, 비판적․창의적․배려적사고가 융합된 다차원적인 실천적 지혜를 학생들에게 가르칠 때 지․정․의의 통합적인 도덕교육이 이루어질 수 있다고 생각한다.
