The purpose of this study was to explore the admission system of recommendation of the chief superintendent of provincial office of education by examining students' entrance exam scores, academic performances at college, and the result of teacher entrance exam. A total of 1,615 graduates (including 462 recommended by Jeonnam chief superintendent) of GNUE through 2004 to 2006 academic years were selected in this study. The result of data analysis are: Firstly, the recommendation admission system by the chief superintendent is a successful admission system because it has given an opportunity to students whose educational environment is very poor and GNUE has provided a quality education program for them to be successful in their teacher entrance exam. Secondly, the recommendation admission system is an example of successful recruiting students not to show selecting effect but to show educating effect. Students who were poorer on college entrance exam scores did better on college academic performance and also did higher on teacher exam success. Thirdly, the recommendation admission system does contribute to the quality teacher education. Finally, the result of this study provide many valuable information to colleges which plan and implement the admission officer system.

본 연구의 목적은 교육감추천특별전형제도 결과를 종합적으로 분석․탐구하고, 이 제도가 학생들의 대학성적과 임용시험 결과에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 파악함과 동시에 제도를 보다 발전적으로 시행하는 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 2004학년도부터 2006학년도 사이에 광주교대에 입학하여 2010년까지 임용시험을 치르고 졸업한 1,615명(교육감추천 462명)을 본 연구의 대상으로 선정하여, 그들의 입학성적과 대학성적을 심층 분석하였다. 또한, 입학성적 및 대학성적과 임용시험 합격 여부와는 어떤 관계가 있는지 분석하였다. 자료 분석결과 교육감추천특별전형제도는: 첫째, 교육여건이 열악한 전남 농어산촌의 학생들에게 고등교육의 기회를 제공하고, 교육대학에서 양질의 교사로 양성하여, 해당지역의 초등교사로 임용하는 성공적인 입시제도의 하나이다. 둘째, 성적 중심의 신입생 선발효과보다 학력 중심의 재학생 교육효과를 보여주고 있어 성공한 사례라고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 교사교육의 내실화에 기여하고 있다. 넷째, 입학사정관제를 효율적으로 정착할 수 있는 자료를 제공해 준다.
