This study starts from questioning about man can realize an ethical, political life in the age of technology. To answer the question, the study focuses on the understanding of technology as found in Hannah Arendt's political philosophy. Arendt is not purely a technological philosopher. Her philosophy doesn't have a part that can be apparently categorized as technological philosophy. Nevertheless, however, technological philosophy is implied in Arendt's political philosophy. In this sense, this study looks into technological philosophy implied in Arendt's political philosophy. Arendt's philosophy of technology suggests that technology is not just a tool or means, but a way of rejecting human condition. It also suggests that technology may become a cause of losing politics which is the primary condition of human life. Furthermore, Arendt acknowledges that technology has some political characteristics and suggests how problems related to technological society can be solved through citizens' participation in politics. Thus, Arendt's philosophy of technology provides an approach that combines both microscopic and macroscopic approaches to technological philosophy.

본 논문은 기술시대에서 인간이 윤리적이고 정치적인 삶을 실현할 수 있는지에 대한 문제의식에서 출발하며, 그 문제의 해답을 한나 아렌트(Hannah Arendt)의 정치철학 속에서 잠재적으로 내재된 기술이해를 중심으로 모색하고자 한다. 아렌트는 기술철학자가 아니기에 기존의 기술철학자처럼 명백히 보이는 기술철학이 존재하지 않는다. 하지만 아렌트의 정치철학은 기술철학을 잠재적으로 내포하여 존재한다. 본 연구는 이런 점에 천착하여 아렌트의 정치철학 속에서 잠재적으로 내재된 기술철학을 정리하고자 한다. 아렌트의 정치철학 속에 내재된 기술철학에 대한 연구는 기술이 단순히 도구이상으로 인간조건을 거부하는 방식에 대한 것이고, 인간적인 삶의 원초적 조건인 정치를 상실하게 하는 원인으로 작동하는 것에 대해 논의한다. 나아가 아렌트의 기술철학은 기술이 정치적인 것 특징을 가진다는 것을 인정하고, 기술사회의 문제들을 시민들이 참여하는 정치로 해결할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 다시 말해, 아렌트의 기술철학은 기술철학의 거시적 접근과 미시적 접근을 한데 묶고 있는 접근법을 지향한다.
