There were diversely existing researches about legislature activities, but they have been conducted a few researches by provincial councilors themselves. And also, researches have been conducted relatively little about the research subjects with whole provincial councilors in S. Korea. The research, therefore, included and analyzed many independent variables as well as the variables which were related to legislature functions.
The dependent variable of this research was satisfaction degrees about legislature activities of Gyeongsangnamdo provincial councilors. The independent variables affecting to the dependent and intermediate variables were political, constitutional, job ability, and motivate factors. The intermediate variable in between the independent variables and the dependent variable were legislature function factors and service for the people factors.
The research formed the research model and analyzed the results by considering causal orders among independent, intermediate, and dependent variables to verify causal hypothesis through a path analysis.

기존에 여러 가지의 의정활동에 대한 연구가 있어 왔지만, 의원 자신들에 의한 연구는 그리 많지 않았다. 그리고 연구의 대상이 국내의 광역의원 전체인 경우도 사실 별로 없었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 의정 그자체인 의회의 기능과 관련한 변수들뿐만 아니라, 많은 외부변수들을 연구에 포함하여 분석하였다.
종속변수로는 경남도의회 의원들의 의정활동에 대한 만족도를 상정하였고, 종속변수에 영향을 주는 환경적 요인의 독립변수로는 정치적 요인, 법․제도적 요인, 사회적 요인, 의원의 개인심리적 요인, 그리고 매개변수로는 의회의 운영(권한)적 요인을 상정하였다.
이러한 변수의 선정과 분류는 경로분석을 통해 인과적 가설을 검증하기 위한 변수간의 인과적 흐름의 순서(causal order)를 고려하여 모형을 설정하였고, 그 결과를 분석하였다.
