Workers' participation in management is becoming more various and active, the labor-management relations are improving and the labor and management's attitude toward workers' participation in management is affirmative and positive. It has been a long tradition among advanced countries, in particular German enterprises, for employees to be given a guaranteed opportunity to participate in management through works councils or collective bargaining, serving as an important mechanism for workplace democracy. This study investigates the effect of employee involvement on firm performance. For an empirical research, a questionnaires were distributed to employees in German subsidiaries in Korea. The methodology that is employed in hypothesis used SPSS 14.0 and AMOS 7.0. According to analysis, both management and labor believe that workers should participate with different levels ranging from rights of hearing to consultation. In result, Korean management participation, expecially, workers' participation in decision making which are accomplished by union-management cooperation, are called for improving its system.

오늘날 경영참가제도는 산업사회의 산물이라고 할 수 있으며, 경영과 노사관계의 안정 및 발전을 위하여 근로자 경영참자제도의 필요성이 커지고 있다. 독일의 근로자 경영참여 모델은 근로자 및 노동조합의 참여를 법적 및 제도적으로 보장하고 있다. 본 연구는 우리나라에서 활동하고 있는 독일 투자기업 근로자들을 대상으로 경영참여제도를 설명하고 실증분석을 통해 경영참여 변수들이 기업성과에 어느 정도 영향을 미치는 가를 SPSS 14.0과 AMOS 7.0 구조방정식 모형으로 분석하는 것이다. 연구결과 근로자 측은 전체적으로 사용자측보다 낮은 점수를 보이고 있어서 근로자 측이 사용자 측에 비해서 인사 관련 및 경영관련 근로자 참가가 덜 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 오늘날 외국인투자기업에 종사하는 근로자 수 가 날로 증가하고 있는 시점에서 근로자 경영참여제도에 대한 본 연구가 우리나라 기업들의 노사관계나 산업평화를 정착시키는데 유용한 시사점을 제시해 줄 것으로 기대된다.
