The Tumen River economic zone as the central place of economic cooperation of Northeast Asia area, has attracted attention from the international community, and it has become an area combining the highway, the port and the processing section. Due to its features and development prospects, the geography economic zone is different from other economic cooperative zones in its progress in cooperation and developmental patterns. With the speedup of global economic integration, Northeast Asia regional economic cooperation and the Tumen River geography economic cooperation and development have drawn world-wide attention, so that the area faces to new opportunities in the present historical environment. Therefore, the particularity of the Tumen River geography economic zone determines the pattern of its economic cooperation as well as its development orientation

두만강유역 경제지대는 동북아지역경제협력의 중심지로서 국제사회의 광범한 주목을 받고 있으며, UNDP가 국제 중재자로 나선, 육로와 항만 일체화가 긴밀히 결합된 지역이다. 또한 이 지역은 주변 국가의 정치, 경제체제, 경제발전수준이 서로 다르고 아직까지는 관련국 중앙정부가 사업 주체로서 나섰다기보다는 지방정부나 민간적 차원에서‘소지역 협력’혹은‘국지적 협력’정도로 다루어져 왔다는 점이다. 두만강유역경제의 특성에 의해 향후 본 지역의 경제협력전망과 발전추세 및 과제를 살펴 볼수 있다. 두만강유역 경제협력개발은 갈수록 세인들의 주목을 받고 있으며 새로운 역사조건과 환경하에서 두만강유역 경제협력 지대의 특성과 향후 이 지역의 발전전망과 개발과제를 제시하였다.
