The aim of the present study is to investigate the meaning of value judgement and its' justification in the theory of value clarification and value analysis. It is appropriate to use value clarification theory in terms of individual values and value analysis theory in terms of common social goods. The meanings of value judgement and its' conditions of justification in two theories are different from each other. The meaning of value judgement in the theory of value clarification refers to choosing value or decision-making. And its' conditions of justification are composed of autonomy, rationality, utility, and consistency. The value judgement in the theory of value analysis means evaluating a value object. And its' conditions of justification consist of logical validity of evaluative inference, the truth and relevance of facts and the acceptability of value principle in relation to the value object. The roles of value judgement in value education are as follows : the basis of behavior and practice, a foundation for forming the value system, and improvement of social problem-solving ability.

본 논문은 가치명료화 이론과 가치분석 이론에서 바라보는 가치판단의 의미와 그것의 정당화에 대하여 검토하였다. 가치명료화는 개인적 가치문제를 주로 다루고, 가치분석 이론은 사회적 가치문제를 주로 다룰 수 있다. 검토 결과, 양 이론에서 바라보는 가치판단의 의미와 정당화 조건은 다르게 나타났다. 가치명료화 이론에서 바라보는 가치판단은 개개인의 가치선택 혹은 의사결정을 의미하며, 그것의 정당화 조건으로 ①자율성(autonomy), ②합리성(rationality), ③유용성(utility), ④일관성(consistency)의 기준이 도출되었다. 그리고 가치분석 이론에서 바라보는 가치판단은 어떤 대상에 대하여 평가를 내리는 것을 의미하며, 그것이 정당화되기 위한 조건으로 ①평가적 추론의 형식적(논리적) 타당성, ②판단대상과 관련된 사실적 근거의 참인 관련성, ③판단대상과 관련된 규범적 근거(가치원리)의 수용성이 도출되었다. 가치교육에 있어서 가치판단의 역할은 다음과 같은 세 가지로 집약될 수 있다 : 즉 ①행동과 실천의 근거가 되며, ②가치관 형성의 전제로서의 역할을 하고, ③사회적 문제해결 능력 증진의 바탕이 될 수 있다.
