Wild grape(V. coignetiae) is an oriental medicinal plant in northeast Asia and its component is well known as an antioxidant and antimicrobial material. Our study was conducted to determine the contents of resveratrol and antioxidative activity of the wild grape extracts by electron donating ability(EDA) from DPPH method and total polyphenol contents. Samples are extracted in 60% ethylalcohol and volume of the solvent used was 10 times of sample on a weight/volume basis(5g/50ml). In this experiment, we extracted resveratrol from wild grapes with 60% ethylalcohol by ultrasonification(US) over a period of 10min, 30min and 1hr and after this,
extracted for an hour at 60℃. Quantitative analysis of extracted samples have determined by using HPLC and the highest content of resveratrol was 212.42㎍/g in 30min US followed 1hr
extraction. The optimum EDA and total polyphenol content were observed in 30min US
followed 1hr extraction and its extraction was presented similar EDA(94.3%) compared with that of α-tocopherol. These results are giving information to understand the physiological activities of
wild grape extracts and it will be a promising functional materials for health and cosmetics purpose.
