Improvement of galactose utilization and productivity of ethanol production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae through searching for yeast genomic libraries

초록

영어

The well-known fermentative yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the preferred microorganism for
ethanol production. Galactose might be considered as a putative carbon sources for ethanol
production. Global overexpression library was screened in order to improve galactose-utilization
ability of S. cerevisiae. Through serial subculture of transformants using galactose as a sole
and mixture carbon sources, 10 genes were were isolated. One of them showed enhanced growth rate and higher ethanol production in both galactose and glucose-galactose mixture carbon source.
