Effects of Herb Extracts and Effective Micro-Organisms on Growth and Nonspecific Immune Responses of Aquaculture Fish

초록

영어

We have investigated the effects of herb extracts and effective micro-organisms on growth, hematology and nonspecific immune of olive flounder (P aralichthys olivaceus) and parrot fish (Oplegnathus fasciatu)for 12weeks. Preparation of herb used was water extracts. The extracts of herb originated from Jeju Island were provided from a stock farm product company (Jewoo Bio, Korea). Effective micro-organisms (Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. brevis, L. plantarum, Bacillus subtilis) were used ferment herb extracts.
The feeding experiment was conducted in 1 ton tanks arranged in a flow-through system, each treatment in duplicate. Each tank was stocked with 50 fish. The fish were fed 2% of their body weight on the control and the treatment feeds, two times daily until satiation, for a period of 12 weeks. The effects of herb mixture on gain weight, feed efficiency, and survival rate of fish fed diets were investigated. To investigate the effects of herb mixture on hematology, the contents of total protein (TP), glucose (GLU), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), glutamic pyruvic
transaminase (GPT), respiratory burst and lysozyme activity in serum was measured.
There were no significant differences in gain weight and feed efficiency. But survival rate was low every experiment fish on olive flounder. The result supposed low temperature and bad quality of seawater. Treatment of olive flounder contents of GOT and GPT in serum decreased after 8 week. But there were no significant differences in GLU and TP among each group. Herb mixture diet significantly increased lysozyme activity comparing to control. On the other hand, there was no significant of NBT reduction. Results could suggest that dietary herb mixture and
effective micro-organisms enhance nonspecific immunity in parrot fish.
