Characterization of multilayer optical sensing membranes for simultaneous detection of dissolved oxygen and pH, and their application to bioprocess monitoring

In this study, we have developed the optical sensing membranes composed of multilayer sol-gel mixture for the measurement of DO and pH. The sensing membranes have been applied to wells in a 24-well microtiter plate. Using the multilayer sensing membranes, the concentrations of dissolved oxygen and pH have been monitored during the cultivations of E.coli , B .cereus and P . pastoris in 24-well microtiter plates.
