Mixed Culture Fermentation of Ellagic Acid from Pomegranate Husks

초록

영어

Pomegranate husks is a residue of rich ellagitannins. Studies were made to investigate the ellagic acid(EA) contents and antioxidant properties of fermentation extracts from converting pomegranate ellagitannins into EA in a solid state fermentation(SSF). Mixed cultures were made with strains of Aspergillus. oryzae var. oryzae and Trichoderma reesei simmoms obtained from
KCTC. Pomegranate husks were used as substrate for the SSF. Released EA was evaluated by Liquid chromatography. Antioxidant activity was measured by 1,1-diphenyl-2picrylhydrazyl radical(DPPH) scavening activity test. The best EA yield was 117.45 ㎍/㎎ dw of extracts in 6 days. Antioxidant activity was correlated with the increase in the EA contents.
