In recent years, the cell-based assay has been used for the detection of drugs, toxicants, and other cell functional characterization. For these cell-based assays, there is an increasing demand for more rapid and simple procedures for studying the cell viability and the effect of drugs on cell behavior. Immobilization of cell is very important process in the fabrication of cell chip since the performance is highly affected by the cells that are immobilized on substrate. HeLa cells have been used to study the effect of anticancer drugs on cells. In order to to enhance adhesion of HeLa Cells on surface, we fabricated nanoconcaved surface using nanoporous alumina. Uniform nanoconcaved patterns were revealed on surface of aluminum after the removal of nanoporous alumina formed during anodization. Au was deposited on nanoconcaved surface by sputtering. HeLa cells were immobilized on the Au nanoconcaved surface.
The results imply that gold-coated nanoconcaved surface can be utilized as nanobioplatform to construct biochip such as cell chip.
