The Effect of Irregular Nano-Patterns for the Development of Polymer Based Cell Chip

초록

영어

PDMS is well known as one of the best biomaterials due to its stability and biocompatibility. To apply PDMS to cell based biochip, proper surface modifcations such as collagen and gelatin are required to adhere cell on its surface. In this study, the nano-scaled irregular patterns on the PDMS surface was developed to fabricate cell based biochip without chemical and biological treatment. PDMS surface was modified by formation of irregular nano patterns using surface deformation technology. Hydrophobicity of modified PDMS surface was sustained with basic PDMS surface. To measure adhesion properties and viability of Human Mammary Epithelial Cells(HMEC) on the surface proposed here, AFM and confocal microscopy were utilized and their results were compared with that from commercial culture dish. It implies modified PDMS surface can be directly applied to cell based biochip without even any reagents.
