Total Phenolics, Flavonoid Contents and DPPH Radical Scavenging Activity of Rhynchosia nulubilis Seed Extracts

Small black bean(Rhynchosia nulubilis.) has been used as supplements of estrogen for preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis and as antioxidative food in oriental medicine. This study was investigated on the antioxidant activity by DPPH method, total phenolics and flavonoid contents in the small black bean.
The crude extract was prepared by ethanol extraction. According to the results, small black bean showed that have not DPPH radical scavenging activity in the concentration of 1 mg/ml. The total phenolics were contained 541.60 ± 16.37 ㎍ /g and flavonoid contents were 155.67 ± 9.68 ㎍/g in the small black bean extracts.
