This study was carried out to investigate antioxidative and antibacterial activities in the extracts of Artemisia capillaris. Antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes was deteminated by paper-disc method. The ethanol extract showed stronger antibacterial activity than that of the water extract.
Radical scavenging effect by DPPH method was more effective in ethanol extract than water extract. The total phenolic compounds content in ethanol and water extracts were 193.15±10.96, 89.4±3.53 ㎍/g, respectively, and flavonoid content were 138.21±16.74, 48.60±9.49 ㎍/g, respectively. These results suggested that ethanol extract had more high activities in compare to water extract in antioxidative and antibacterial activities.
