Application of novel electrode for cofactor regeneration and enzyme fuel cell

초록

영어

Fuel cell is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy. The type of fuel cells could be determined by the type of catalyst. Enzyme fuel cell is one of the fuel cell that employ enzyme as catalyst. In this study, novel electrode was prepared by glucose oxidase immobilized on tin oxide electrode to generate electricity from glucose. With glucose oxidase immobilized tin oxide electrode as an anode, 4 mL enzyme fuel cell was fabricated which have two compartment divided by nafion membrane. This fuel cell system was well working without mediator. The addition of oxygen into the buffer solution increased the current of the fuel cell. The addition of NaCl into the cathode compartment enhance the generation of power density. The addition of glucose into the anode compartment also enhance the generation of power density. The power of the enzyme fuel cell was 177 μW cm-2 (0.5V) in 600mM glucose
addition into the anode compartment and 1.0 M NaCl added in to cathode compartment.
