Effects of Mud Extract for Skin Anti-inflammation

초록

영어

Mud is widely known as an effective agent for skin care and is used widely in the cosmetic industry. Crude mud sample obtained from Yellow Sea in Korea has been known to contain mineral constituents such as bentonite and germanium. However, the biologically active materials in mud have not yet been fully determined. This study investigated the effects of mud waterextract on UVB-induced prostaglandinE2 production in HaCaT keratinocytes. PGE2 is
inflammatory and immunomodulatory mediators in mammalian physiology. The mud samples were suspended in distilled water for 24 hrs at room temperature.
After the UBV exposure in HaCaT, the water extract mixed with fresh culture medium was added to each well. Cell supernatants were harvested 24hr after irradiation, and PGE2 was analysed by quantitative enzyme-linked immunisorbent assay .These results showed that the mud extract reduced the accumulated levels of PGE2 in the media in a concentration-dependent manner when added tothe culture media immediately after irradiation.
