SeonWonJeJunJipDoSeo is the introductory book for an about 100 volume collection, SeonWonJeJunJip, which Gyubong Jongmil (780～841) of the Tang Dynasty edited.The book was introduced to Goryeo in the late 10th Century or in the early 11th Century. It had a great influence on the Bojo Jinul's (1158～1210) philosophy in 12th Century. It is assumed that it was circulated amomg Zen monks who inherited Jinul's Zen philosophy. The book drawn attention once again by Byeoksong Jieom (1464～1534) in Joseon Dynasty.Byeoksong Jieom insisted to guide callow Zen monks through the Buddhist scriptures, such as not only DoSeo but also GoBongHawSangSeonYo, DaeHaeBo- GakSeonSaSeo, BopJipByorHaengRokJulYoByongIpSaGi, while he was active in Mt. Jiri by late in his life. He succeeded the Zen ascetic practices of Bojo Jinul who insisted to harmonize then Zen with Doctrinism. These documents was accepted as a learning collection(Sajip) among his successors. There are 26 different types of the existing printed editions. Among them, one book edition published in 1579 at the Sinhung temple of Gyeongsang province and another book edition published in Hwa-arm temple in 1493 at the Jeolla province form a main pedigree.

禪源諸詮集都序는 당나라 圭峯宗密(780～841)이 편찬한 禪源諸詮集 100여 권에 대한 總序에 해당하는 책이다. 이 책은 고려시대 10세기 말에서 11세기 초기에 국내로 수입되어 12세기 普照知訥(1158～1210)의 사상에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 이후 고려말기까지 지눌의 문도와 그를 遙嗣한 승려들 사이에서 유통되었을 것으로 판단되며, 조선시대 들어 碧松智嚴에 의해 다시 한번 크게 주목을 받게 된다. 碧松智嚴(1464～1534)은 말년을 지리산에서 활동하면서 都序 뿐만 아니라 高峯和尙禪要, 大慧普覺禪師書, 法集別行錄節要幷入私記 등의 佛書를 통해 초학자를 지도할 것을 주장했다. 그의 이러한 주장은 禪敎兼修를 주장했던 보조지눌의 禪修行觀을 계승한 것이며, 이후 그의 문도들 사이에서 이들 문헌이 四集으로 수용되기에 이른다. 현존하는 판본은 대략 26종이 찾아지고 있으며, 이들 판본 가운데 1493년 전라도 花岩寺에서 간행된 판본과 1579년 경상도 神興寺에서 간행된 판본이 주요한 계통을 이루고 있다.
