A record of the Chungsanbyulgok, a poem introduced in the Akjanggasa and Siyonghyangbo, is not found in the historical book of a Koryo history. But the form and content of Chungsanbyulgok confirm itself as a Koryo poem and the Chungsanbyulgok is one of the best poems in old Korea poems.Although many studies on the Chungsanbyulgok have been made, there are still many subjects to be studied in Chungsanbyulgok. And this thesis will treat some of basic subjects of the study.First, the title argument of the Chungsanbyulgok. As the Chungsanbyulgok is consisted of eight stanzas, the title of the first stanza in eight stanzas is, in fact, related to that of the Chungsanbyulgok. The remaining seven stanzas are not related to the title. As the orally transmitted Chungsanbyulgok was written in the song book, the title came from the content of the first stanza in the Chungsanbyulgok. This case is the same in the Seokyungbyulgok. As the reason above, the Chungsanbyulgok has to be read with the understanding that the name of the Chungsanbyulgok does not represent the whole eight stanzas.Second, the argument of speaker in the Chungsanbyulgok. So far one male character was recognized as a speaker. But the fact that each stanza has its own speaker is scrutinized.Third, the argument of systematic content relation in the Chungsanbyulgok. The contents of eight stanzas in the Chungsanbyulgok was understood to be related but it is far from truth. Eight stanzas are eight independently separate songs and it is shown that the Chungsanbyulgok is gathering of these eight songs.Fourth, the argument of author in Chungsanbyulgok. The author of the Chungsanbyulgok is presumed to be a learned man and his name was discussed. But it is shown that Chungsanbyulgok was written not by one individual but by common people with the finding that the Chungsanbyulgok was a folk song.Fifth, the argument of the written time of the Chungsanbyulgok. As the written time of the Chungsanbyulgok has many theories, there are no substantial proofs. As the Chungsanbyulgok was recorded in the same song book which has Jungkwajung, Halimbyulgok, The Chungsanbyulgok seems to have the similar period with those. And also, as Jungkwajung, Halimbyulgok were written between 12th century and 13th century, it is great possibility that Chungsanbyulgok follows these periods.By introducing a few basic arguments about the study of Chungsanbyulgok, better understanding about Chungsanbyulgok is expected.

<청산별곡>은 󰡔악장가사󰡕․󰡔시용향악보󰡕｝등에 전하는 시로 비록 󰡔고려사󰡕｝등의 사서에 기록은 없으나 그 형식․내용으로 보아 고려시대 노래로 인정되는 한국 고시 가운데 뛰어난 작품 중의 하나이다. 이미 많은 연구가 이루어졌으나 앞으로 해명되어야 할 과제가 많은 작품으로 그 연구의 기초적인 몇 가지 문제를 다룬 것이 본고이다.첫째, 작품의 제목에 관한 문제이다. 모두 8연으로 구성되어 있는 이 작품의 제목을 <청산별곡>이라 하나 실제로는 8연 중 첫째 연에 해당하는 제목이 <청산별곡>이지 이 제목이 8연 모두를 포괄하는 것은 되지 못한다. 이렇게 된 이유는 구전으로 전승되던 노래를 가집(歌集)에 수록하면서 첫째 연의 내용을 중심으로 노래 이름을 선정한 때문이라 생각된다. 이러한 예는 <서경별곡> 등에서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 따라서 <청산별곡>이라는 노래 이름은 8연을 다 포괄하는 것이 아님을 알고 이 시를 읽어야 한다. 둘째, <청산별곡>의 화자 문제이다. 지금까지 한 사람의 남성이 화자라는 견해가 묵시적으로 인정되어 왔으나 자세히 살펴보면 8연의 화자가 각기 달라서 8연에 8명의 화자가 있음을 밝혔다.셋째, <청산별곡>의 8연의 내용상 유기적 관계의 문제이다. 지금까지 8연이 내용상 서로 연결되는 노래라 보았으나 이것은 사실과 다르다. 8연은 각기 독립성을 가진 개별적인 노래이며 이것의 집합이 <청산별곡>이라 밝혔다.넷째, <청산별곡>의 작자 문제이다. 작자는 지식층의 사람이라는 견해가 제시되고, 그러한 인물로 구체적인 작가 이름까지 거론되었으나 <청산별곡>은 개인의 창작이 아니고 민요임을 밝혀 그 작자가 서민 대중임을 밝혔다.다섯째, 창작 시기에 관한 문제이다. <청산별곡>의 창작 시기에 대하여도 여러 의견이 발표되었으나 구체적인 증거가 없다. 다만 <정과정>․<한림별곡> 등의 시와 같이 가집에 수록된 고려가요로 보아 이들 시와 비슷한 시기로 보았다. 이들 시가 12세기에서 13세기에 지어진 것으로 보아 <청산별곡>도 이 시기에 이루어졌을 가능성이 크다고 보았다.이상 <청산별곡>의 이해에 기초가 되는 몇 가지 문제에 대한 견해를 밝혀 앞으로 <청산별곡>의 이해와 연구에 도움이 될 수 있게 하였다.
