These days, churches seem to look down on traditional church resources as old or outdated. This study is to provide a thoughtful reflection on that idea. In fact, it maintains that the resources are not outdated at all. Rather, they are necessary and essential for pastoral care even today. The study shows that pastoral care through Baby Dedication is possible and could be very effective for adulthood. It posits, however, that adequate understanding of adulthood and its characteristics is necessary for effective pastoral caregiving. An effort to adjust rituals based on those characteristics is also found to be necessary in the process of providing pastoral care. The writer anticipates that pastoral care through Baby Dedication could be possible not only for adulthood, but also for people of different age levels in the congregation, though more studies are to follow. Traditional church rituals are not old or outdated. Their meaning and significant power within the congregation has always been shown throughout church history. They can and should be re-discovered and renewed in the course of providing pastoral care, even in the post-modern era.
