There are two tasks that are assigned to a preacher. First, it is the hermeneutical aspect of properly interpreting the Word of Truth. Second, to have a discernment to accurately understand the generation and its listeners. If the Word of Truth is not properly interpreted, we are departing from the purpose of preaching and cannot be considered to be a truly Christian sermon. A preacher is a person who is called to testify and deliver the Word by primarily and faithfully carrying out the exegetical procedures on the text. However, a sermon that only exegetes the literal meaning of the text may cause a separation from the lives of the listeners. After all, it is quite possible that a sermon may not reach the lives of the listeners and can become nothing more than just speaking into thin air. A preacher is someone who comes before the listeners with the Word of Truth. The listeners are those who are constantly open to battles and attacks of the world. And the preacher’s task is to present to the people their identity and life as Christians through the Truth. These tasks of the pastor are the basis for the reason and existence of the sermon information project, providing appropriate sermon news. It is a support for proper preaching and a short cut to precisely reach out to the generation and its listeners with God’s Truth. This writer has presented a few issues and matters pertaining to the sermon information project for the aid and support of preachers in the perspective of practical theology. First, to examine the unique features carried out by the sermon information project. Second, to discuss the most effective way of using the sermon information project in the standpoint of pastors. Third, to present a few matters of attention on the providing of information and interpretation in the viewpoint of the writing staff. And fourth, a few suggestions and proposals to pastors and more for the development of providing effective sermon news.

설교자에게는 두 가지의 사명이 주어진다. 첫째, 진리의 말씀을 바르게 해석하는 해석학적 안목이며 둘째, 시대와 청중을 바르게 이해하는 통찰력이다. 진리의 말씀을 바르게 해석하지 못하는 것은 설교의 목적에서 벗어난 것으로 진정한 기독교적 설교라 할 수 없다. 설교자란 본문의 의미를 일차적으로 충실하게 주해한 후 그 말씀에 근거하여 전하도록 부름 받은 사람이다. 한편, 청중의 삶과 분리되어 본문의 문자적 의미만 주해하는 설교 역시 청중의 삶에 뿌리 내리지 못한 채 허공을 치는 설교가 될 가능성이 크다. 설교자란 진리의 말씀으로 청중에게 다가서는 사람이다. 청중은 매일 세상에서 치열한 전투를 벌이는 사람이며 그 사람에게 진리를 통해 그리스도인의 정체성과 삶을 제시하는 것이 설교자의 사명이다. 목회자에게 때마다 적절한 설교 정보를 제공하는 설교정보 프로젝트의 존재이유는 바로 이러한 목회자의 사명에 근거한다. 시대와 청중에게 적실한 설교를 돕는 길은 하나님의 진리를 가장 적실하게 들려지게 하는 지름길이다. 논자는 이 글에서 실천신학적 관점에서 설교자들을 돕기 위한 설교정보 프로젝트에 관하여 몇 가지 이슈를 논의하고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 설교정보 프로젝트가 지니는 독특한 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 목회자들의 입장에서 설교정보 프로젝트를 가장 효과적으로 이용하는 방안에 관하여 논의 할 것이다. 셋째, 설교정보를 제공하는 집필진의 입장에서 정보와 해석을 제공하면서 염두에 두어야 할 몇 가지 사항들을 제시한 후, 넷째, 목회자들에게 보다 효과적인 설교정보 제공을 위해 몇 가지 발전적 제언을 하였다.
