This study was to assess health status for the elderly people who have visited the community heath care service center. About 60% of the survey respondents reported that they had suffered
from any kind of diseases during the past six months. The elderly people who were female, single, uneducated, or lower SES tended to show worse status in both physical and mental health. The findings suggested that the better health care program should be given to the elderly persons through the community health care center.

본 연구는 경남과 전북 지역의 소도시에 거주하는 노인들 중에서 보건소를 이용한 경험이 있는 자들의 건강상태를 살펴본 조사였다. 조사에 응한 노인들의 약 60%가 지난 6개월 동안 질환을 앓은 경험이 있었는데, 평균적으로 102일 정도 몸이 아파서 일상생활을 할 수 없을 정도였다. 그러한 비율은 남성보다 여성이 더 높았으며, 그리고 저소득층일수록, 연령이 높을수록, 또 학교를 다니지 못했거나 배우자가 없는 노인에게서 더 높았다. 이러한 조사결과는 하루 빨리 지역사회 보건소에서도 그들을 위한 건강증진 프로그램의 활성화를 시사하였다.
