The aim of this thesis is to consider personal and academic companionship between MyeongJae YoonJeung and DeokChon YangDeukJoong. MyeongJae YoonJeung had very wide relationships with mentors, followers and friends and produced many of his followers. As well as he studied as a follower under three famous masters like YooKye, SongJoonGil, and SongShiYol, he companioned widely and deeply with noted savants like ParkSeDang, ParkSeCha, and MinYiSeung. The characteristic of his academic theory is synthetic because every other theory was mixed together in his. It seems to be relatedwith his wide and
deep human relations during his entire life. Especially, there was a person with whom MyeongJae companioned deeply, that is DeokChon YangDeukJoong. DeokChon, who became MyeongJae’s disciple at his age 40, was a main follower of MyeongJae. MyeongJae really esteemed DeokChon and led him the realm of his truthful learning, and DeokChon also served MyeongJae sincerely and contemplated the scholarship hard. The companionship between them was very admirable and realistic. Moreover, their worthy companionship remains until
now as it was before.

본 논문은 명재 윤증과 덕촌 양득중의 인간관계와 학문적 교유관계를 성찰하기 위한 것이다. 명재 윤증은 사문(師門)과 교유(交遊)의 범위도 넓고 다양했으며, 배출한 제자도 많았다. 유계(兪棨), 송준길(宋浚吉), 송시열(宋時烈) 등 3대 사문에 나아가 수학하였을 뿐만 아니라 박세당(朴世堂), 박세채(朴世采), 민이승(閔以升) 등 당대 명유들과 넓고 깊은 교유를 가졌다. 명재 학문의 특성이 성리학․심학․예학․실학 등 종합적인 성격을 보여주는 것도 긴 삶 속에서 폭넓고 다양하였던 인간관계와 무관하다고 보기는 어려울 것이다. 명재가 교유한 인물들 중에 주목되는 사람이 있으니, 바로 덕촌(德村) 양득중(梁得中,
1665~1742)이다.
명재와 덕촌은 ‘사생지간(師生之間)’이다. 덕촌이 나이 40에 정식으로 사생의 예(禮)를 갖추고 문하(門下)에 들어가 제자가 되었다. 이후 스승 명재는 덕촌을 매우 아끼며 무실적인 학문으로 인도하였고, 덕촌은 진심으로 스승을 섬기며 학행을 성찰하였다.
이와 같이 덕촌이 명재를 진정한 스승으로 섬기고, 명재가 열린 마음으로 덕촌을 대한 사생(師生)간의 아름답고 실존적(實存的)인 ‘교유(交遊)’는 오늘날에도 그 의미가 퇴색되지 않고 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다.
