The aim of this thesis is to examine MyeongJae YoonJeung’s philosophical theory by inspecting the academic stream focusing on MyeongJae YoonJeung. The studies about MyeongJae YoonJeung were started in earnest recent years.
To go deep into the study of his learning, it is important to understand the previous studies that had an academic influence on him. In addition, it is necessary to clarify his academic attitude to his close friends or following.
MyeongJae contacted and communicated almost every savant who wasin Confucian academic stream in that age except savants who were in western academic stream. There were much more amount that the variety of academic stream evolved from MyeongJae than other main savants. What are the reasons for those situations happen to MyeongJae? There are two reasons on him, not on the circumstance of that age. First, MyeongJae was eminent and generous in both learning and virtue. Second, he regarded substantial and sincerity as the
most important virtue in his academic studies.
When MyeongJae’s academic studies, which was very opened and communicated with other savants around him, are examined closely with this view, lots of chances to discover his ideas that haven’t found yet will be learned.
Therefore, the academic interchange with scholars needs to be examined closely.

본 논문은 명재 윤증을 중심으로 한 ‘학맥의 조감’에 의하여 그의 성리학이 지닌 학맥적위상을 점검하는데에 그 목적이 있다. 명재 윤증에 대한 연구는 겨우 근년에 들어서 본격화 되었는데 그의 학문을 보다 높은 차원에서 깊이 연구하려면, 그의 학문의 근본토대인가학(家學)을 비롯하여, 그가 학문적 영향을 받은 선학(先學)의 맥을 짚어야 한다. 이어 지우(知友) · 문인(門人)에게 표명하는 그의 학문 태도 및 입장을 밝혀야 한다.
명재가 접촉하고 상대한 학자들은 서학(西學)을 빼고는 그 시대 유학 학맥의 대부분에 이른다. 17세기-18세기 초의 정주학자 가운데 명재의 주변에서 분출한 학맥만큼 다양한 경우는 다른 학자에게서는 찾아보기 힘들다. 명재에게서 이런 현상이 일어난 원인은 무엇일까? 그 원인을 당시 여건을 제외하고 명재 자신에게서 찾는다면, 두 가지를 꼽을 수 있는데, 하나는 학자로서 명재가 지닌 ‘학덕의 관대함’이고, 또 하나는 ‘무실(務實)과 실심(實心)을 무엇보다도 중요시’한 그의 학문성격 때문일 것이다.
이러한 이해의 시각에서 그의 주변, 특히 문인들과 교류한 명재의 학문, 곧 그의 성리학을 더 음미할 때에는 아직까지 발견되지 않은 사상이 더 발견될 가능성이 충분하다. 따라서 그의 문인들과의 학문교류는 재삼 다각도로 그리고 더욱 주밀하게 심찰(深察)할 필요가 있다.
